Clubs are back at Eakin for fall 2023! These fun, enriching, after-school activities will start the week of September 17 and conclude the week of December 11. All clubs run from 3:00pm to 4:15pm and cost between $160-$260 per student. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available.
Yoga Club (grades K-5, Wednesdays)
Yoga Club’s creative and vibrant classes teach children movement, breathing, meditation, and relaxation. Yoga poses, stories, music, and imagery blend together for a fun way to increase strength and flexibility, improve gross and fine motor skills, improve attention and focus, as well as give children useful tools for calming the mind and managing life.
Ukulele Sprouts (grades K-5, Tuesdays)
The Nashville School of Traditional Country Music’s Ukulele Sprouts program introduces all the fundamentals of playing stringed instruments using the best kids’ instruments ever - the ukulele! Ukulele Sprouts uses original songs that were created on the uke to add essential motor skills seamlessly, one by one. Students are taught by ear so there is no practice book necessary - all you need is your ukulele.
Girls On The Run (grades 3-5, Tuesdays AND Thursdays)
Girls in grades 3-5 are invited to join the Eakin fall 2023 Girls On The Run team. This program for 3rd - 5th graders inspires girls to build confidence and other important life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and physical activity. Participants meet with coaches twice a week for ten weeks and registration includes a t-shirt, water bottle, and entry into the November 18th Girls on the Run 5k event.
Hot Wheelin’ NASHcar Racers! (grades 1-5, Wednesdays)
Eakin NASHcar racers will have a blast using over 1,000 feet of Hot Wheels tracks and hundreds of Hot Wheels cars. Students will be given station play opportunities to master skills involving science, technology, engineering, art, and math- all in the context of PLAY! There will be time for both independent and team play as well as fun team challenges involving slime, racing and track building. Students will also develop slow motion videography to capture photo finishes and epic crashes.
Dig Nashville (grades 2-5, Tuesdays)
Eakin explorers will grow their wonder for Nashville and Tennessee’s natural history as we discover Nashville’s ancient past. Explorers will develop and practice skills of observation, wondering, and exploring Nashville’s prehistoric and cultural history by researching, finding, recording, sketching, preserving, and displaying artifacts.
FIRST LEGO League (grades 4-5, Thursdays)
Eakin students are invited to participate in a LEGO® League Challenge team! Players engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering as they build and program a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. FIRST® introduces science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) to students through fun, exciting, hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experience through a guided, global robotics program, helping today's students and teachers build a better future together. Applications are required to participate as well as teacher recommendations. Participants will also be eligible for local LEGO competitions in early December.
Science Guys Science Club (grades K-5, Wednesdays OR Thursdays)
The Science Guys’ Science Clubs are filled with interactive, hands-on, inquiry based FUN! Science clubs are offered on either Wednesdays or Thursdays, and strengthen what students are already learning with hands-on science experiences that deepen their education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
Chess Club (grades K-2 Tuesdays, grades 3-5 Wednesdays)
The Nashville Chess Center’s Chess Clubs for grades K-2 or 3-5 bring a qualified NCC instructor and materials into Eakin to help students learn and hone their Chess game! Since 2000, the NCC’s student programs have helped kids grow problem solving and reasoning abilities, increase attention spans, and improve self-esteem. Clubs will be grouped based on grade-level, and students of all abilities are welcome!
